Sobre nosotros
We are so excited to bring this GEM of a place up to date. She's pretty outdated, but exceptionally clean. So bear with us, as we dive in and make our updates to ensure you have a comfy night's sleep and wonderful stay. The Y Motel is a landmark location in Chama NM at the junction of Highway 84, 64 and Highway 17. This motel had been owned and operated by the Jensen family since the early 70's (we've got big shoes to fill!) We have 13 rooms with some that include kitchenettes and have been a favorite among thru, section, and day hikers of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) for many years. Our rooms are affordable and close to many amenities, including the grocery, hardware store, laundry facilities, and a number of dining options. Chama is considered a gateway city for the CDT trail hikers, and the motel is extremely busy in the spring and summer months with those who conquer the trail; and a hub for summer and winter travelers alike. Fall and Winter are a buzz with hunters, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, while the Spring and Summer bring cool mountain air seeking travelers, train enthusiasts and those just looking to relax in a slow paced little mountain town. The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad celebrated 50 years in 2020. The Chama Chile Ski Classic runs on Martin Luther King weekend, and will be celebrating 49 years in 2021. The fourth of July is always a buzz because Chama celebrates with one of the largest fireworks displays in the northern part of the state. Watch it from your patio or our front lawn! August celebration of Chama Days brings softball players from all across New Mexico. Winter also brings a hot air balloon rally and snowmobile poker run.
